Hamdeok's beach in the morning, the forest after
Two halves. On the coast, Hamdeok, the gentlest beach on the island and the one for small kids; inland, the gotjawal, Jeju's lava-rock forest, with a thatched teahouse among a thousand old jars, Sangumburi's grassy crater and farmhouse lunches. Do them in that order.
No photos, no star ratings — just what I'd tell a friend. These are the places on my own map, 38 of them here: 12 I've been to, 26 I haven't made it to yet.

Things to do
Sangumburi
The walk up is easy and the crater wide and grassy; come in autumn, when the silver grass is out.
Hamdeok Beach
The gentlest family beach: the easiest sand on Jeju for small people, even in coat weather.
What to order and how to get in — the queue windows, which booking apps work without a Korean number — is in the guide.
