With Apgujeong and Cheongdam next door, this is where Gangnam's most polished era left its trace — home ground of the generation Koreans call the Gangnam hipsters. The brands people still love keep flagships here, and unlike Hannam or Seongsu you can shop Gentle Monster, Nonfiction and Tamburins in something like quiet. Make it a weekday — one stop keeps office hours. Then flip the day: the most refined department store in the country, the chicken hof the locals fill, and the river park where Seoul is at its happiest.

From mid-March to October the last fountain show is at nine (9:30 in July-August) — stay on the mat as long as the beer lasts. Out of season there's no fountain, but the park never closes, and the river is still the place to end the day.
